On 23–24 July 2014, UNU-IAS and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will co-organize the Sixth International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2014) in Yokohama, Japan.

ISAP aims to promote information sharing and facilitate diverse discussions on sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific, with the participation of frontline experts and stakeholders from international organizations, governments, businesses and NGOs.

Climate change has become a reality and there is now no time to waste. We must take action to mitigate the changes and to cope with their impacts. The Asia-Pacific region has seen increased greenhouse gas emissions from major economies across the region, particularly affecting socially‐marginalized populations. Resource limitation is another major challenge facing sustainable development in this region. To cope with changes in the natural, social and economic systems and to pass on various assets to the next generation, we need to shift from current development trends, and promote low‐carbon and inclusive development in which people of all backgrounds are engaged in creating opportunities and sharing benefits.

With the theme of Bringing Regional Voices to the Post-2015 Development Agenda: Solutions for a Low-carbon, Resilient and Inclusive Asia-Pacific, ISAP2014 aims to gather key stakeholders and ensure that their voices will be linked with regional and international discussions that we hope will continue in 2015 and beyond.

Simultaneous Japanese–English interpretation will be provided. Participation is free and open to the public, but those who wish to participate in the lunch session are requested to pay JPY500 for a boxed lunch.
