    UNU-IAS will organise an event discussing the importance of local engagement for effective climate adaptation and how empowering communities leads to grassroots solutions. It will feature a special lecture by Youssef Nassef, Director of the Adaptation Programme at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) who will discuss his visionary work on climate change adaptation.

    Dr Nassef has 29 years of expertise in international environmental policy and diplomacy, and has spearheaded various initiatives – including the Nairobi Work Programme and the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage — strengthening policy frameworks for developing countries to respond to climate change challenges.

    The event will be organised by the UNU-IAS Operating Unit Ishikawa/Kanazawa (UNU-IAS OUIK).

    Participation

    This event will be held in Kanazawa City at the Shinoki Cultural Complex in Seminar Room A on the 3rd floor. To attend, please register in advance.
