UNU-IAS, together with the Japanese Society of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and the Global Environment Outreach Centre (GEOC), will organize the symposium The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development: Promoting Organic Collaboration in ESD Practice and Research.

Since the adoption of the SDGs in September 2015, various efforts on ESD have been carried out in relation to achieving the SDGs. One element of the SDGs is to ensure that everyone can acquire the knowledge and skills for promoting sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles. Through this event, UNU-IAS and the Japanese Society of ESD, founded in April 2017, will deepen the discussion on the challenges thus far and the future prospects of the SDGs and ESD. The event will focus on organic collaboration for practice and research of ESD and improving the quality of education regarding the SDGs, drawing on national and international examples.

This symposium is organized as a part of the SDG Dialogue series. Please be aware that this event will be held in Japanese only. For more information about the programme and to register, please see the Japanese event announcement on the UNU-IAS website.
