In April 2014, UNU-IAS began a new talk series in Japanese for students and recent graduates interested in careers at international organizations or in global contexts. UNU CAFÉ invites active members of the international community to share their experiences and engage in lively discussions.
In its ninth session, which will be held on Tuesday, 9 February 2016, UNU-IAS will welcome Mr. Tetsuo Kondo, the current Director of the UNDP Representation Office in Tokyo. Mr. Kondo has served in numerous duty stations, including Chad, Kosovo, Timor Leste, Thailand, Iraq, Jordan and New York. Before joining the UN, he has served with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as the First Secretary in the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations in New York, and at Japanese Embassies in Zaire and France.
At UNU CAFÉ, Mr. Kondo will share his experiences and challenges of working at the UN. He will provide hints on what is required from aspiring international civil servants and will respond to questions from the floor. He will be available after the talk to engage in further discussions.
Please note that this event will be held in Japanese only. No interpretation will be provided.
