This side event of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) will present research results of the UNU-IAS Global Leadership Training Programme in Africa (GLTP). Implemented since 2013, under GLTP 57 Japanese postgraduate students have conducted research in 13 African countries, at a total of 23 universities and institutes. GLTP is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan.
On the occasion of TICAD7, graduates of GLTP will present their overall results in line with the priorities of the TICAD6 Nairobi Declaration. GLTP has fostered a broad range of research, which will be introduced by the young researchers in the context of the SDGs in Africa. This event will also include an extended discussion between participants on further strengthening educational and academic partnerships between Africa and Japan.
