Three years after the “triple disaster” of 11 March 2011 in Japan, it is now necessary to reflect on the Great East Japan Earthquake and the nuclear accident at Fukushima Dai-ichi plant with a broader perspective. The symposium 21st Century of Disaster: Lessons from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Fukushima Nuclear Accident and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aims to incorporate the experiences and lessons learned from “3.11” into discussions on the post-2015 development agenda.
The symposium will be co-organized by UNU-IAS, the Research Project on Social Regulation and Risk Governance of Atomic Industry (funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan), and the POST2015 Project on Sustainability Transformation beyond 2015 (funded by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan), with the cooperation of the Organization for Creating Asian University Institute.
Please note that this event will be held in Japanese only; no interpretation will be provided.
