This online event will provide an overview of the activities and outcomes of the UNU SDG–Universities Platform (SDG–UP), and facilitate further discussion on the future of Japanese universities and their role in achieving the SDGs. The event will be held with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
SDG–UP was established in October 2020 with the aim of strengthening collaboration among Japanese universities and various stakeholders to promote research and educational activities advancing the SDGs, enhancing the presence of Japanese universities in the international community, and contributing to the sustainable development of Japan and the world. Thirty-one universities from across Japan have participated in monthly workshops, sharing knowledge and developing strategies to address sustainability issues under four themes: (i) university management, (ii) SDGs curriculum, (iii) university collaboration, and (iv) university evaluation and accountability.
