    Background

The UNU SDG–Universities Platform (SDG–UP) was established in October 2020 to strengthen the efforts of Japanese universities as well as partnerships with stakeholders to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to communicate these efforts in Japan and the world. Thirty-two universities from across Japan have participated in monthly workshops, discussing the role and potential of Japanese universities in solving common global issues. The four working groups (i) university management, (ii) SDGs curriculum, (iii) university collaboration, and (iv) university evaluation and accountability work together to promote transformation of behaviour among stakeholders in higher education and to contribute to activities that create a sustainable future.
