UNU-IAS holds the UNU CAFÉ talk series in Japanese for students and recent graduates interested in careers at international organizations or in global contexts. UNU CAFÉ invites active members of the international community to share their experiences and engage in lively discussions.
In its tenth session, which will be held on Thursday, 21 April 2016, Mr. Masafumi Nagao, Visiting Professor at UNU-IAS and project manager of the Education for Sustainable Development in Africa (ESDA) project, will be speaking on his career and his work at UNU. Mr. Nagao is also Research Professor at the Center for the Study of International Cooperation in Education at Hiroshima University (Japan) where his primary work is to conduct research relating to the evaluation of aid programs and projects in the field of education. He has previously worked with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on teacher training projects in Africa. He has also served on the JICA Advisory Committee on evaluation and on the School Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
At UNU CAFÉ, Mr. Nagao will share his unique insights on conducting field research in African countries and talk about ways in which young people can get involved in making their societies more sustainable. He will respond to questions from the floor and make himself available after the talk to engage in further discussions.
