Methods for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Conservation and Utilization of Agricultural Heritage Systems Workshop

    UNU-IAS will organize an international Workshop on Methods for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Conservation and Utilization of Agricultural Heritage Systems in East Asia – Report on Monitoring and Evaluation Method for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use through Multi-stakeholders Governance Project (2015-2018).

    Conducted as part of the UNU-IAS “Monitoring and Evaluation Method for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use through Multi-stakeholders Governance” project, this workshop will report on research findings thus far. Leading experts on Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) conservation and research from Japan, China and the Republic of Korea will also share on the implementation status of monitoring and evaluation of GIAHS in their respective countries, especially from the viewpoint of utilizing biodiversity conservation activities in agriculture. The workshop will also explore how to incorporate a multi-level governance approach in monitoring and evaluation to involve the participation of various actors including local residents, civic groups, universities, research institutions, and government officials.
