UNU-IAS, with the National Biodiversity Authority of India and under the UNEP-GEF-MoEFCC ABS Project, has developed an online course on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS). This course was officially launched at the Fourteeth Conference of the Parties (COP 14) of the Convention on Biological Diversity held in November in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The course provides an introduction to the various dimensions involved in the implementation of the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) mechanism, as per the Nagoya Protocol.
Case studies have been used to illustrate various models of ABS partnerships, providing insight into how to address some of the practical issues associated with ABS implementation.
The course is available at www.abscourse.net.
