This academic year, 15 new students matriculated at UNU-IAS (12 to pursue an MSc. and three a Ph.D.), while 13 students from partner universities (The University of Tokyo and Sophia University) and four participants from other institutes are currently enrolled in the Intensive Core (IC) Courses. This year’s total number of participants is 32.
The IC Courses consist of three components related to sustainable development and serve as a foundation for the Master’s and Ph.D. programmes. Students attend all-day lectures for four weeks, with the attendance of students from partner universities and participants from other institutes fostering intercollegiate exchange.
The opening ceremony commenced with welcome remarks from UNU-IAS Director Kazuhiko Takemoto. Osamu Saito, Academic Director and Academic Programme Officer, then provided more details about the programmes and what students can expect over the next month.
