UNU-IAS advanced global policy dialogue on climate change at the Sharm el-Sheikh Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP27), held in Egypt on 6–20 November 2022. The institute organised side events, contributed expertise through other events and policy processes, provided expert commentary in the media, and engaged in bilateral discussions with strategic partners.
Through these activities UNU-IAS promoted innovative approaches to engage and empower stakeholders in climate action, including youth and local communities. A common message was the need to strengthen synergies in efforts to deliver on the Paris Agreement on climate change, the SDGs, and the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, through transformative change across society. The events shared the latest UNU-IAS research outcomes and promoted initiatives to empower youth and strengthen synergies, including the new postgraduate degree specialisation on the Paris Agreement.
