From 27 to 30 August, UNU-IAS, in cooperation with the Kanagawa International Foundation (KIF), jointly organized the annual UNU Global Seminar in Shonan Village Center, Hayama, Kanazawa Prefecture.
Ninety-seven participants from various universities from all over Japan attended the four-day seminar, themed this year as “What Can We Do to Realize a Sustainable Society?: A Gender & Sexuality Perspective”. Lecturers, former UN officials, professors, and practitioners discussed global issues such as armed and political conflicts, economic disparities, and issues in the labor market and universities from a gender and sexuality perspective, as well as the role of individual civil society actors in addressing them.
On the final day, students presented on what they had learned through various lectures and activities. All participants were awarded certificates, wrapping up a successful thirty-third session of this event.
