Eriko Onishi joined UNU-IAS as an Administrative Programme Assistant in January 2022. She provides administrative support in finance-related work and liaises with the UNU Centre Administration offices in Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur. She holds an MA in Global Politics from Hosei University, and an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Bradford. While conducting research on peace and security during her studies, she visited the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus and The Gambia.
Prior to joining UNU-IAS, Eriko worked for the finance bureau of the Ministry of Finance, Japan. Her research interests include global governance and the role of finance in promoting green economy. Inspired by her volunteer experience helping persons with disabilities, she also has an interest in creating inclusive societies through sustainable cities.
