This research and capacity-development project is to establish and promote a repository of evidence-based action-oriented pedagogies for effective education for sustainable development (ESD). Leveraging the United Nations University’s (UNU) global network of Regional Centres of Expertise on ESD (RCEs) with 170 member centres, this research has three component: 1) conduct an extensive literature review to create a research framework for Action-oriented Pedagogies for ESD (AOP for ESD) that are community-based, regionally relevant and empirically sound, 2) develop a curated repository of exemplary AOPs for ESD as part of the existing RCE project database, and 3) conduct four regional trainings for educators of RCEs in navigating the repository and implementing AOPs for ESD in their schools and organizations. This research will contribute to translating a global agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), into local actions for communities and citizens through empirically proven pedagogies.
