On 6 November 2015, UNU will hold a special symposium on the topic Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The symposium will be part of a series of events celebrating 40 years of UNU academic work, and will provide an opportunity for scholars, policymakers, practitioners and the public to discuss issues of sustainable development following the UN Sustainable Development Summit and in the run-up to the COP21 Paris Climate Conference.

Following the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by UN Member States in September, the international community is facing the challenge of implementing this ambitious plan and achieving its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This special symposium will explore how the many and varied stakeholders in this global effort can effectively collaborate, with a particular emphasis on the role of scientific knowledge and education, as well as new partnerships between the public and private sectors.
