Mei Maruyama is a Programme Coordinator at UNU-IAS for the Global Environment Outreach Center (GEOC) and the EU-Japan.AI project. Mei joined the institute in September 2015 as a Programme Associate to support research and administrative activities of GEOC and Low Carbon Technology Transfer Project. She has led numerous outreach efforts in partnership with a variety of stakeholders, including government entities, UN agencies, civil society organisations, academia, and youth.
Before joining UNU-IAS, Ms Maruyama was a secretariat member of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP). She also served as a focal point of the National Geospatial Information Authorities in the Asia Pacific region. In 2018, she was selected as a Young Leader for the German-Japanese Young Leaders Forum and participated in the “Transport and Mobility” programme held in Potsdam and Berlin, Germany.
